Infographic: One Day at Tranquility Base

The images of Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin on their excursion across the lunar surface are some of the most iconic ever taken. Yet, the time and distance they covered on their immortal extravehicular activity is surprisingly small. They traveled more than 380,000 km to explore an area smaller than one city block. Armstrong and Aldrin spent less than 22 hours on the surface. Three days later, they returned to a changed planet.
