This course provides a basic introduction to the Inventive Problem-Solving Process known as “TRIZ” (Romanized acronym for “Theory of Inventive Problem Solving”). TRIZ is a structured, “left and right brained” methodology for developing breakthrough innovations. TRIZ was developed by way of an 85+ year study of some 4.5 million patents, from the world-wide patent database, that uncovers the hidden patterns of how humans have innovated over the past hundred plus years. Following the TRIZ methodology/algorithm allows anyone to create breakthrough and novel solutions to problems as well as develop new products and business concepts.
By participating in this course, you will learn how to successfully:
- Define a system in terms of “functions.”
- Identify and eliminate components of a system which have low value.
- Move outside of your “area of expertise”, to get solution concepts from other industries.
- Conceptualize new components that eliminate your problems.
- Identify and solve the system “contradictions” that are keeping you from the best solution.
- Identify the natural evolution systems and move them closer to an “ideal” state.
