New! ASME Federal Fellow and Public Affairs Volunteer Opportunities

ASME Federal Fellow Applications Open September 1

Engineers solve complex problems every day, but their expertise can also help shape the policies that affect the future of engineering. Through the ASME Federal Fellows Program, engineers have the opportunity to bring their technical knowledge directly into the federal policymaking process.

ASME Federal Fellows work alongside policymakers and staff on real world policy challenges while gaining firsthand experience in government. Whether supporting legislative initiatives, informing science and technology policy, or helping federal agencies navigate complex engineering challenges, Fellows serve at the crossroads of engineering and public service.

Fellows serve in one-year assignments within Congress or federal agencies, contributing their knowledge to issues ranging from advanced manufacturing and energy to space exploration, infrastructure, and other emerging technologies.

Interested in making an impact? Applications for the next ASME Federal Fellows cohort open September 1. Visit the ASME Federal Fellows webpage to learn more about who should apply, eligibility, program details, and the application process.

ASME Community Engagement Center Updates

ASME has recently updated our Community Engagement Center with new volunteer leadership opportunities, including two new openings to support the Committee on Government Relations (CGR) as a Member-at-Large.

Comprised of volunteer leaders from across industry, academia, and ASME sectoral activities, the Committee on Government Relations helps connect engineering expertise with federal policymaking. The committee works alongside ASME Government Relations staff to identify emerging policy challenges, develop advocacy priorities, and provide technical insight on issues impacting the engineering profession.

Visit the ASME Community Engagement Center at https://access.asme.org/engagement/ to learn more and find opportunities that match your goals and interests.
