NSF Request for Proposals for Projects Related to the Future of Work at the Human-Technology Frontier

The National Science Foundation (NSF) has released an updated version of its solicitation for FY 2022 for its Future of Work at the Human-Technology Frontier (FW-HTF) program. The program seeks proposals for core research and project development that will help transition projects to scale. The FW-HTF program is looking for projects that engage in multidisciplinary research and develop a deeper understanding of human needs and how technology can meet those needs, all while promoting a deeper understanding of the basic link between humans and technology.

An estimated 40 grants will be made under the program in FY 2022: up to 15 Project Development Awards, up to 15 Research Awards, and up to 10 Transition-to-Scale Awards, each with unique parameters. Project Development Grants may be requested for a total budget not to exceed $150,000 for a period of up to 1 year; Research Grants may be requested for a total budget not to exceed $2,000,000 for a period of up to 4 years; and Transition-to-Scale Grants may be requested for a total budget not to exceed $4,000,000 for a period of up to 5 years.

“Proposals to this program should describe multi-disciplinary or convergent research that addresses technological, human, and societal dimensions of future work. Technological innovations should be integrated with advances in behavioral science, computer science, economic science, engineering, learning sciences, research on adult learning and workforce training, and the social sciences. Proposals that address the impact of large-scale disruptions such as the Covid-19 pandemic on the future of jobs and work are also of interest.”

All proposals are due by March 2, 2022. For more information visit: https://www.nsf.gov/pubs/2022/nsf22533/nsf22533.htm?WT.mc_ev=click&WT.mc_id=USNSF_38&utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery.
