DOE Announces $30 Million in Federal Funding to Support Near Net Shape Components

The U.S. Department of Energy’s Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Technologies Office (AMMTO) has announced that $30 million in federal funding has been earmarked to support innovations in the domestic production of large metallic near net shape (NNS) components.

Domestic near net shape manufacturing is a critical step on the path towards deploying America’s clean power-generation technology, achieving the current Administration’s climate goals by greatly reducing U.S. dependence on foreign entities to produce components needed for clean energy production and resulting in a more secure supply chain and a more competitive domestic manufacturing base. The funding opportunity will also address many of the advanced manufacturing technology priorities identified in the 2022 “National Strategy for Advanced Manufacturing.”

Concept papers are due by 5 p.m. EDT on May 11, 2023, with full applications due by 5 p.m. EDT on June 23, 2023. Visit here for more information or to apply for funding.
