Alert: Stop the Pro Codes Act

Alert: Stop the Pro Codes Act

As the summer winds down and Congress reconvenes from its August recess, ASME continues our efforts on Capitol Hill to defend the standards industry from the Pro Codes Act. This legislation threatens the existence of Standards Organizations (SDOs) and the work we all do on behalf of the American people.

The Pro Codes Act mandates that standards development organizations like ASME put their standards online for free or lose their copyright, jeopardizing the ability of SDOs to support their missions of public safety and threatening the ability of manufacturers in the global marketplace. This legislation has the potential to decimate ASME and other non-profit SDOs which make up the safety standards eco-system.
