ASME Celebrates Its Federal Fellows

ASME Congressional Fellow Joel Berry recently concluded his fellowship year on Capitol Hill in the office of Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ). During his time as a fellow, Dr. Berry managed the senator’s portfolio on topics that included Artificial Intelligence, Quantum technologies, and Space. Dr. Berry also had the opportunity to travel throughout the course of his time on Capitol Hill, including to Arizona where he met with constituents to discuss key issue areas and their impact. He also attended a rocket launch at the NASA observation deck. Congratulations to Dr. Berry on such a successful year!

ASME is pleased to welcome Dr. Matthew Trone as our newest congressional fellow. Dr. Trone has just started his fellowship and will also be serving in the U.S. Congress. Dr. Trone has a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Utah, a background that will provide a much-sought-after set of skills in Congress. Best of luck to you Dr. Trone!

ASME’s current Executive Branch fellow, Reece Lumsden, continues his time in the Department of State where he manages a portfolio supporting the priorities of the Department of State with his engineering acumen.

The application for the 2026-2027 ASME Federal Fellows cohort is currently open!
