Submissions Sought for Special Issue of the Journal of Computational and Nonlinear Dynamics

June 15, 2018

The ASME Journal of Computational and Nonlinear Dynamics is now accepting manuscripts for a special issue focusing on computational and nonlinear dynamics in biomedical applications. The deadline to submit a paper for the special issue, which is expected to be published in the third quarter of 2019, is Aug. 1, 2018.

The primary motivation for the publication of this special issue of the Journal of Computational and Nonlinear Dynamics is to promote the exchange of new ideas and methods (primarily analytical and numerical), as well as their use in research related to nonlinear phenomena, computational modeling, dynamic analysis, and control for clinical diagnosis, patient health monitoring, drug administration, and bio-signal assisted rehabilitation. Although research in these areas has increased substantially in recent years, there remains a shortage of integrated approaches to biomedical research from a dynamical systems perspective.

The guest editors of the special issue are seeking submissions showcasing the latest innovative and integrated approaches to develop a greater comprehension of the dynamics of biological and biomedical systems, applying techniques from nonlinear dynamics and computational fields. The issue will feature papers related to a range of subjects including cardiovascular dynamics; nonlinear dynamics in the brain; nonlinear biomedical signal processing; dynamics of diseased conditions; healthcare monitoring and dynamics; dynamical phenomena in biomedical systems; and treatment through dynamic analysis and control of drug administration.

The guest editors for the “Special Issue on Nonlinear and Computational Dynamics in Biomedical Applications” are Elena G. Tolkacheva, Department of Biomedical Engineering, University of Minnesota, U.S.A.; Brian Feeny, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Michigan State University, U.S.A.; and Xiaopeng Zhao, Department of Mechanical, Aerospace, and Biomedical Engineering, University of Tennessee, U.S.A.

Manuscripts should be submitted to the Journal of Computational and Nonlinear Dynamics by Aug. 1, 2018, through the ASME Journals Digital Submission Site. Authors who already have an account should log in and select “Submit Paper” at the bottom of the page. Authors who do not yet have an account should go to the “New Users” page, select “Submissions” and follow the step-by-step instructions. Authors should choose “Journal of Computational and Nonlinear Dynamics” when they reach the “Paper Submittal” page, and then select the special issue “Nonlinear and Computational Dynamics in Biomedical Applications.” Papers received after the deadline or those that are not selected for inclusion in the special issue may be accepted for publication in a regular issue of the journal.

Submissions for the special issue will be peer-reviewed according to the usual standards of the journal and evaluated based on originality, quality and relevance. Manuscripts should be formatted according to the journal style and should not have been published previously or currently under consideration for publication in another journal.
