Jane H. Davidson has brought the power of the sun into the laboratory, having built, with colleagues, the first indoor concentrating solar simulator in the United States. It's an important tool in the research she has focused on for ten years—the study of solar thermal technologies.
Dr. Davidson is a professor of mechanical engineering at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. She has also taught at the University of Delaware in Newark and at Colorado State University. She has held engineering positions at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee and at the Research Triangle Institute in North Carolina.
Dr. Davidson earned her Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. She received her bachelor's and master's degrees in engineering science and mechanics from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.
