Plan to Host or Attend a National Manufacturing Day Event on October 1

We are less than a month away from this year’s National Manufacturing Day (MFG Day), held annually on the first Friday of October. MFG Day gives manufacturers across the country an opportunity to open their (virtual) doors to showcase the potential of modern manufacturing and foster interest in manufacturing careers. Manufacturing Day is aimed at building awareness and excitement around advanced manufacturing so that children and adults alike can better understand career opportunities that exist in this advanced industry.

MFG Day encourages thousands of companies and educational institutions around the nation to host virtual or safe in-person events for students, parents, teachers, and community leaders to learn more about the exciting field of modern manufacturing and to better understand the challenges of the skills gap.

The annual event is sponsored by the Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) federal government program which highlights the importance of bringing manufacturing to young people to help bridge the skills gap by igniting interest in pursuing a career in manufacturing. ASME has been a long-time supporter of this and other federal manufacturing programs. For more information on ASME’s involvement in manufacturing policy at a federal level, please take a look at the
ASME General Position Paper on Advanced Manufacturing.
