Manufacturing's Role in Strengthening Domestic Security Takes Center Stage at Upcoming Event

U.S. production has long prioritized efficiency more than resiliency with a focus on long, lean supply chains over security, sustainability, and agility. This has resulted in heavy reliance on foreign sourcing, creating a pared-down U.S. manufacturing base that is unable to scale up and fulfill the country’s needs in times of crisis. The early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic revealed this gap.

ASME is committed to leveraging the expertise of mechanical engineers in solving problems such as these. To learn more about how mechanical engineers can contribute, join the SecureAmerica Institute for an in-person event on May 9 at the Fort Worth Convention Center in Fort Worth, TX to hear more about the importance of securing robust supply chains and ensuring domestic manufacturing for national defense and economic strength.

ASME will also be welcoming the SecureAmerica Institute and several other leading manufacturing partners to join us on May 18 for a panel on intelligent manufacturing and the supply chain as part of our Policy Impact 2022 programming.
