America Makes Organizes 3D Printing Companies to Respond to Coronavirus Needs

America Makes is one of 14 Manufacturing USA Institutes bringing together industry, academia, and government to advance advanced manufacturing technologies in the United States. As a Department of Defense-led Institute focused on 3D printing technology and additive manufacturing, the organization is partnering with its member organization, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), to help meet the needs of America’s health care workers. This effort will connect the capabilities of the additive manufacturing industry with the needs of health care providers via an online repository that will lead to product designs that can address supply chain shortages during the pandemic.

Additive manufacturers and health care professionals are being asked to use the repository and input information that will then allow America Makes to make connections and fulfill the urgent needs of health care providers. America Makes has always viewed itself as a convener of people and ideas, and this repository is just another way for America Makes to fulfill its mission to “drive collaboration in our industry to meet the needs of the U.S. government and manufacturing base.”
