ASME Foundation Wins ECMC Grant for Technical Workforce Development

ASME Foundation Wins ECMC Grant for Technical Workforce Development

The ASME Foundation has received an $800,000 grant from the ECMC Foundation. This funding aims to assist underserved community college and Career and Technical Education (CTE) students in successfully finishing their degrees. The goal is to help them enter the technical workforce or move on to four-year institutions for additional study in mechanical engineering or related fields. This grant aims to address equity gaps in postsecondary education and improve access to high-paying engineering careers. The Community College Engineering Pathways program will offer specialized training, internships, and apprenticeships, while also helping colleges enhance employer networks and curriculum alignment. The Foundation will use this funding to expand this program across 15 community colleges, including five minority-serving institutions. Additionally, a companion program called HBCU Engineering Pathways will support historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) in expanding students' professional networks and connecting them with employers. This grant will be facilitating opportunities for women and students of color in engineering-related fields, while aligning with the broader mission of the ECMC Foundation to foster social and economic mobility for underserved learners.
