We’re excited to announce that some of the Old Guard Competitions will now be taking place at ASME’s global E-Fests (Engineering Festivals). E-Fests are three-day, two-night regional events built around design, advanced manufacturing and robotics technologies. They enable engineering students to expand their knowledge, test and showcase new skills and inspire innovation.

You must register online for the Old Guard Competitions through the regional E-Fest website. E-Fests will be taking place in the following locations in 2017:

The Old Guard Program Competitions

Through annual financial contributions and volunteer time and efforts, the Old Guard conducts the following programs for the benefit of engineering students and early career engineers, and ultimately for the good of the engineering profession.

Please note that the Old Guard Video Presentation Competition and the Old Guard Technical Web Page Competition are currently not being offered.

 

The Old Guard Oral Presentation Competition

An engineer, like all professionals, must possess a well-developed ability to communicate, both orally and in writing. This competition is designed to emphasize the value of an ability to deliver oral presentations.

This poster competition, held at North American District ASME Student Professional Development Conferences, is designed to emphasize the ability to deliver a visual presentation. Subject matter is to be related to some area in the field of mechanical engineering.
