ASME Standards & Certification Announces Honors and Awards Recipients
Each year, ASME Standards & Certification (S&C) issues numerous honors and awards to recognize the contribution and service of individuals involved with its standards development activities. Below is a highlight of a few of the 2018 honors and awards recipients. ASME S&C would like to thank all of its standards and certification volunteers for their contributions and service.

Richard W. Barnes, President at ANRIC Enterprises Inc., was announced as the recipient of the Standards & Certification’s most prestigious award, the Melvin R. Green Codes and Standards Medal. Mr. Barnes is recognized for distinguished leadership and professionalism in the research, development, promotion, acceptance and application of ASME standards. Mr. Barnes is a member and past chair of the Boiler and Pressure Vessel (BPV) Technical Oversight Management Committee; a member of the Board on Nuclear Codes and Standards; a member and past chair of the BPV III Standards Committee; a member and past chair of the Qualification of Mechanical Equipment Used in Nuclear Facilities (QME) Standards Committee.





Robert V. Wielgoszinski, Principal Code Consultant at Hartford Steam Boilers (HSB), was announced as the recipient of the Wilfred C. LaRochelle Conformity Assessment Award. Mr. Wielgoszinski is recognized for career efforts that support HSB and its clients on all aspects of ASME Conformity Assessment; for 25 years of contributions to ASME on conformity assessment; and for more than 20 years of service on several committees of The National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors (NBBI) including chairing the National Board Inspection Code Main Committee. Mr. Wielgoszinski is a member of the Boiler and Pressure Vessel (BPV) Technical Oversight Management Committee; an ex-officio member of the Board on Conformity Assessment; chair of the Qualifications for Authorized Inspection (QAI) Standards Committee; a member of the BPV I, IV Standards Committees; chair of the committee on Boiler and Pressure Vessel Conformity Assessment; and a member of numerous other committees.ASME Dedicated Service Awards – The award honors dedicated voluntary service to the Society marked by outstanding performance, demonstrated effective leadership, prolonged and committed service, devotion, enthusiasm and faithfulness
In addition, the following Standards & Certification volunteers have been distinguished as ASME Fellows. Louis Bialy, Otis Elevator Company (Board on Safety Codes and Standards) Michael Burshtin, AMTRAK (Rail Transit Vehicle Standards Committee) Wavel Justice, Retired (Operation and Maintenance of Nuclear Power Plants Standards Committee) Glen Palmer, Palmer Group International, LLC (Operation and Maintenance of Nuclear Power Plants Standards Committee) Matt Taher, Bechtel (PTC 10 Compressors and Exhausters) John Zudans, CHSM-Hill (Board on Nuclear Codes and Standards)
The grade of Fellow honors outstanding engineering achievement and is ASME’s highest level of membership.
