American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Turbo Expo 2013 to be Held in San Antonio, Texas

NEW YORK, Jan. 8, 2013 — ASME Turbo Expo 2013, a technical conference and exhibition addressing the latest developments in turbine technology, will be held June 3-7, 2013, in San Antonio, Texas.

The event offers a premium exhibition of turbine products and services supported by leading companies in the industry, a five-day technical conference that sets the world standard for turbine technology, and in-depth career development workshops providing fundamental study and efficient techniques.

Three leading figures in the industry – Alan Epstein of Pratt & Whitney, Stuart Jeffries of ExxonMobil, and Vinod Philip of Siemens Gas Turbines – will speak in the opening keynote session on June 3.  The keynote speakers will examine a range of issues around the theme “Trends in the Global Energy Supply and Implications for the Turbo-Machinery Industry,” including the role of renewables and shale gas in meeting the rising  demand for energy worldwide.

About the Keynote Speakers

• Alan Epstein is vice president, Technology and Environments, for Pratt & Whitney. He is responsible for coordinating technology programs relating to product performance and environmental impact.
• Stuart Jeffries is facilities engineering manager at ExxonMobil Production Company. Jeffries is responsible for the company's global portfolio of oil and gas producing facilities and also manages the career development of more than 1,000 engineering employees worldwide.
• Vinod Philip serves as engineering director at Siemens, where he is responsible for the design, development, and validation of components and technologies for next-generation gas turbines. He has worked at Siemens for 14 years.

ASME Turbo Expo – Turbine Technical Conference and Exposition will bring together engineers, research scientists, educators and other professionals involved in the design, operation, and maintenance of stationary gas turbines and aero-engines.  Combining a technical program and exhibit, ASME Turbo Expo 2013, to take place at the San Antonio Convention Center, will cover engine design, materials, fans and blowers, cogeneration, combustion diagnostics, and micro-turbines, among other topics. 

The three-day exposition at Turbo Expo will showcase the products and services of engine manufacturers, software developers, research laboratories, and other firms in the worldwide power industry.  Other events will include facility tours, continuing education workshops, and networking programs for women and early career engineers.
