Journal Program Awards

ASME Journal Program Awards

The ASME Journal Program looks to recognize outstanding contributions that are made each year. Awards are given to authors and reviewers to recognize the very best. The awards are given at the discretion of each journal. Journal specific criteria are included on the individual journal pages.

PAPER AWARDS

The purpose of these awards is to promote high quality research contributions in mechanical engineering through the recognition of outstanding papers that appear in an ASME journal. The best paper award is available for each journal to bestow annually in recognition of outstanding contributions.

The criteria for selection are: (1) fundamental value of the contribution, (2) expectation of archival value (e.g., expected number of citations), (3) practical relevance to mechanical engineering, and (4) quality of presentation.

REVIEWER AWARDS

Peer-review is the foundation of the ASME publishing program. The purpose of these awards is to recognize the contributions of Reviewers that participate in the ASME Journal Program. The Reviewer of the Year award is available for each journal to bestow annually in recognition of outstanding contributions.

The criteria for selection are: (1) the ability to provide insightful and constructive feedback to help authors improve their work; (2) the ability to provide knowledgeable reviews that improve the quality of the research published in the journal; (3) the ability to provide a quick response after accepting an invitation to review a paper; and (4) the number of reviews provided in a volume year.
