ASME Promotes Hasan Agha to Chief Technology Officer
NEW YORK (March 31, 2026) — The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) today announced it has promoted Hasan Agha to chief technology officer (CTO). He has served as ASME’s chief architect since 2019. In his new role, Agha will lead ASME’s global technology strategy, facilitating collaborations with companies throughout the ASME and standards development organizations ecosystem. He will focus on advancing artificial intelligence (AI) models for engineering knowledge, scaling digital product innovation and content platforms, strengthening enterprise architecture and data strategy, and driving continued modernization and operational excellence. He continues to report to ASME Chief Information Officer Keith Bloesch.
“ASME sees AI as a powerful tool to amplify engineering knowledge, not replace it,” said ASME Executive Director/CEO Tom Costabile. “With Hasan as CTO, we will accelerate our efforts to transform engineering knowledge into intelligent digital assets, helping engineers apply trusted standards more effectively in an increasingly complex world.”
With more than 25 years of experience in enterprise systems, application architecture, and large-scale transformation initiatives, Agha has been instrumental in modernizing ASME’s technology landscape. Over the past year, he has led ASME’s digitization of content and AI initiatives, driving the transformation of the Society’s extensive collection of engineering standards and intellectual property into structured, machine-readable digital assets. These efforts are foundational to enabling advanced AI capabilities, intelligent content delivery, and next-generation digital products. Previously, Agha led ASME’s enterprise-wide digital transformation, successfully migrating legacy systems into a modern, scalable enterprise ecosystems, enhancing operational efficiency, data governance, and customer engagement.
“Hasan’s vision, technical depth, and ability to bridge business strategy with technology execution have been critical to ASME’s transformation journey,” said Bloesch. “His leadership in AI and digital innovation positions ASME to deliver greater value to our members and the global engineering community.”
Agha earned a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science from Yarmouk University in Jordan as well as several business and technical certifications including an executive certificate in strategy and innovation from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He is also nearing completion of the MIT CTO professional certificate program.
About ASME
ASME helps the global engineering community develop solutions to real world challenges. Founded in 1880 as the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, ASME is a not-for-profit professional organization that enables collaboration, knowledge sharing, and skill development across all engineering disciplines, while promoting the vital role of the engineer in society. ASME codes and standards, publications, conferences, continuing education, and professional development programs provide a foundation for advancing technical knowledge and a safer world. In 2020, ASME formed the International Society of Interdisciplinary Engineers (ISIE) II & III LLC, a new for-profit subsidiary to house business ventures that will bring new and innovative products, services, and technologies to the engineering community.
