ASME to Offer Piping and Pipelines Courses in Oklahoma

ASME Learning & Development will offer more than 10 live training courses related to piping and pipelines – including the new course “Post Weld Heat Treatments in ASME Codes” – next month near Oklahoma City. The courses will be held from Oct. 8 to 12 at the Marriott Conference Center at the National Center for Employee Development (NCED) in Norman, Okla.

“Post Weld Heat Treatments in ASME Codes (PD766),” to take place Oct. 8-9, will provide attendees with the essentials they need to understand how materials respond to the rapid thermal cycle that occurs during most welding operations, as well as the resulting properties in the weldments. For the process to be successful, the ferritic (iron-based) materials commonly used in the pressure containing applications of the ASME Codes may require significant differences in preheating and post weld heat treatment (PWHT) requirements. This course provides attendees with the information necessary to understand and implement these requirements. It also covers the rules for weld preheating, PWHT, post bending heat treatments and the use of material heat treatments.

Also being offered for the first time in Oklahoma is the “Detail Engineering and Layout of Equipment and Piping Systems Combo Course (PD792),” which combines two of ASME’s popular piping and pipeline courses, “Detail Engineering of Piping Systems (PD410)” and “Managing and Coordinating Piping Projects (PD720).” Registrants who take these two courses together, from Oct. 8 to 12, will save up to $930 on the cost of registration.

Other public courses scheduled for Oklahoma include “B31 Piping Fabrication and Examination (PD445),” “In-line Inspections for Pipelines (PD706),” “B31.3 Process Piping Design (PD014),” “B31.8 Gas Transmission and Distribution Piping Systems (PD370),” “Seismic Design and Retrofit of Equipment and Piping (PD394),” and “Root Cause Analysis Fundamentals (PD618).”
