Long-Time Volunteer Awarded the Prestigious Fratcher Medal

BPV Committee on Heating Boilers Awarded the G. Fratcher Medal to John Chicoine, a volunteer committee member.
During Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code week earlier this year, the BPV Committee on Heating Boilers presented the G. Fratcher Medal to John Chicoine for his long-term distinguished service and achievement in the field of codes and standards pertaining to the rules relating to heating boilers.
Chicoine brings over 20 years of experience to the BPV Committee on Heating Boilers. During his time with the committee he has been highly active on the consensus committee and several subordinate groups such as the Subgroup on Water Heaters, Welded Boilers, and Cast Boilers.Chicoine is the current chair for the Subgroup Cast Boilers, where he demonstrates leadership skills and maintains professionalism and integrity.
Among the challenging projects that Chicoine has taken on is the Record 22-314. This project resulted in substantial changes to installation and modular boiler requirements. Chicoine was able to put to use his technical expertise as well as his skill at collaboration and consensus building for this and other important projects.
Chicoine talent is his ability to collaborate consistently with staff and other committee members. He is able to manage a high volume of projects and move those projects forward because he invests the time to build relationships and show respect to other members of the groups of which he is a part.
The following are the past recipients of the BPV Section IV George Fratcher Award:
2020: Mr. Timothy Bedeaux
2021: Mr. James Hall
