Developing countries hold 84% of the world's population and bear 93% of the worldwide burden of disease. To develop technologies that address the complex challenges of global health, Prof. Kathleen Sienko, University of Michigan, and her team, have studied how conventional engineering design processes can be supplemented by methods derived from social science fields such as anthropology.
