Quiz: Engineering New Realities

The convergence of AI and XR is changing the game for human-machine interaction. See what you know about our new reality.
Smart glasses are having a moment, and not everyone is thrilled about it. As camera-equipped shades are becoming more common, concerns about privacy and consent have naturally followed. That reaction isn't entirely new. After all, when smartphones began spreading in the early 2000s, they prompted many of the same questions: What happens when cameras become tiny, portable, and always within reach?

Two decades on from those simpler times, taking a photo with a phone barely registers as futuristic. It's not wild to say that smart glasses and other wearables may represent another shift in how we interact with technology (and another adjustment for society to grow into). And cameras are only one part of the story. Advances in AI and augmented and virtual realities are drastically changing what small devices can do.

How much do you know about the engineering behind this emerging generation of new realities? If you're an avid Mechanical Engineering reader, you may already have the answers. Test your knowledge with this ASME quiz!
