Steam operations manager Zac McGinnis discusses the engineering, history, and enduring appeal of ASME Landmark No. 611.

Zac McGinnis is steam operations manager at the Virginia Museum of Transportation and for Norfolk & Western Class J No. 611. A lifelong steam enthusiast, he brings over 18 years of preserved-locomotive experience and has worked with No. 611 since 2013.

He leads operations and maintenance planning and supports fundraising, communications, and event planning. A retired firefighter and former assistant chief, he is committed to safety and mentorship.
