Zac McGinnis is steam operations manager at the Virginia Museum of Transportation and for Norfolk & Western Class J No. 611. A lifelong steam enthusiast, he brings over 18 years of preserved-locomotive experience and has worked with No. 611 since 2013. 

He leads operations and maintenance planning and supports fundraising, communications, and event planning. A retired firefighter and former assistant chief, he is committed to safety and mentorship.

ASME Techcast spoke with McGinnis about the #611 Class J Steam Locomotive, which is an ASME Landmark that was rededicated by ASME in 2025.
