Many key developments in reliability, risk, and uncertainty quantification for engineering systems have emerged through international collaborative research, where complementary expertise, experience, and perspectives from different institutions are combined to address increasingly complex scientific and engineering challenges. Such collaborations create valuable synergies and provide opportunities to develop innovative theories, computational approaches, and practical solutions that may not be achievable within individual research communities.

The National Chapter of European Safety & Reliability Association (ESRA) facilitates such developments by providing a structured platform for scientific exchange, international networking, and joint developments between researchers from different continents. This Special Issue aims to highlight high-quality achievements arising from such global collaborative research and to further strengthen international connections within the reliability, risk, and uncertainty quantification community. Particular emphasis will be placed on contributions involving intercontinental collaboration and/or developments with clear relevance and applicability across different geographical, environmental, or engineering contexts. It particularly welcomes innovative and interdisciplinary contributions that advance the state of the art and demonstrate the value of collaborative research across geographical and disciplinary boundaries.
