Process Piping, Welding, Brazing, and Fusing Learning Path

This ASME Process Piping, Welding, Brazing, and Fusing Learning Path is comprised of two Self Study eLearning courses accessible via ASME’s Learning Hub. The courses cover the requirements of the ASME B31.3 Process Piping Code for the analysis, testing & inspection of process piping systems and the requirements of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel (BPV) Code, Section IX that relate to welding, brazing, and fusing procedures. It is designed to equip learners with the theoretical and practical skills to excel as a process piping engineering professional.

This Learning Path features video-based content that introduce case studies on branch connections, pressure ratings, piping flexibility and system specifications related to the ASME B31.3 Process Piping Code and provides illustrative examples of the layout, scope, and use of ASME BPV Code, Section IX in conjunction with other construction codes.

By participating in this Learning Path, you will learn how to successfully: 

• Describe the scope, technical and quality requirements of the ASME B31.3 Process Piping Code
• Explain the layout and scope of ASME BPV Code, Section IX including the qualification of procedures and personnel and the basic features of commonly used welding processes

Who should attend?

Engineers, managers and quality personnel who are involved in the design, manufacturing, fabrication and examination of process piping that is being built to the requirements of U.S. Codes & Standards including those working in the boiler, pressure vessel, petrochemical, biopharmaceutical, or other industry whose welding qualifications are governed by ASME BPV Code Section IX.

Course participants are expected to have:

• An introductory background in ASME BPV Code Section IX: Welding, Brazing & Fusing Qualifications 
• A calculator
• Access to computer equipment and a reliable internet connection
• Software to display PDF files (such as Adobe Reader)

A Certificate of Completion will be issued to registrants who successfully complete each course in the Learning Path and achieve a passing score of 75% or higher in the final exam for each course.
