Daniel E. Tompkins has over 40 years’ experience in Boiler and Pressure Vessel design, construction, commissioning, operation, maintenance and inspection. He graduated from Marine Engineering in the province of Ontario, Canada and is certified as a First Class Power Engineer in the Province of Alberta, Canada.
Dan is the Chief Inspector of an Owner User inspection program and has been registered as an In-service Inspector in the Province of Alberta Canada for over 20 years. He has overseen Pressure Relief Valve service and repair programs as well as inspection and repair programs for boilers and pressure vessel owner organizations.
Dan is a member of ASME and has been a member on several ASME B&PV committees for over 15 years. He currently sits on BPV I and BPV XIII standards committees as well as BPV I Sub-Group General Requirements and Piping and BPV XIII Sub-Group General Requirements.
Monte Bost joined HSB I&I Company in 1978 after serving as a nuclear machinist in the US Navy and has over 40 years of ASME boiler and pressure vessel experience. Monte was first assigned as a nuclear inspector at several nuclear power plant constructions sites. He then assumed the duties as an Authorized Inspector for ASME nuclear and non-nuclear certificate holders. He has conducted inspections on utility boilers during new construction and outages including two of the largest supercritical boilers in the US located in southeast Ohio. Monte has been assigned as Authorized Inspector Supervisor for 15 years and supervises 12 Inspectors. He is responsible for and conducts audits and participates in ASME and National Board Joint Reviews for Section I, IV, VIII-Division 1 (including impregnated graphite), Division 2, Division 3, Section X and NBIC R Certificate Holders.
For 20 years Monte has conducted training for HSB new inspector trainees, also taught public seminars that include ASME and NBIC in the US and Asia. He has taught courses that cover ASME Sections I, IV, V, VIII, and IX, NBIC as well as ASME B31.1. He holds a B.S. degree from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. He attends NBIC Committee meetings and is currently on the National Board Inspection Code Subgroup Graphite. Mr. Bost holds National Board “AI” and “IS” Commissions with Supervisor and Repair endorsements.
