Group Administrators FAQs

The ASME.org Community is a reflection of AMSE groups that currently have an active online component. If an ASME group/unit currently does not have an online component then it will not show up in the Directory or in the navigational structure.
Yes, any content that is tagged as public within an ASME Group is available to all individuals that arrive at www.asme.org, whether they are a participant or not. This gives various groups such as Sections, Students Sections, Districts, Affinity Groups, and Divisions the ability to use their Group pages to communicate information about their upcoming events to any user who visits their pages.
Each Section and Student Section is set as closed until an individual is designated to be the administrator of the group. In order to open a Section or Student Section, a registered user must send a request to asmecommunity@asme.org. As soon as an approved admin is identified, the group can be opened.

Tips
  • Use good-quality photos. They appeal to users more than blurry, unclear images.
  • Provide unique information, such as descriptive titles and captions for each image.
  • Wherever possible, it's a good idea to make sure that images are placed near the relevant text.
In addition, we recommend providing good, descriptive titles and captions for your images.
  • The image should be optimized for the web.
  • Images should be JPG, GIF, or PNG, with a DPI of no more than 72dpi/ppi
The description should be in sentence form and less than 150 characters. Describe the main goals of the group. Try to include major keywords that someone searching might use to find your group.
Accurately tagging the Interest tags will help others to locate your Group easier within our site wide search and searching within the Directory. It also assists with making it easier to promote the Group in the Recommended for You space and relevant content pages on site.
Resource tags help your Group Participants identify files faster and makes search easier; for instance, Participants can find all the tagged minutes in the Resources area by clicking on a single "minutes" tag.
