Nanotechnology holds promise for wound healing and a great deal of research is currently being done in this area. Dennis P. Orgill, professor of surgery, Harvard Medical School, and vice chairman for quality Improvement, Department of Surgery, Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH), discusses advances in nanotechnology for wound healing.

Dr. Orgill obtained his Ph.D. at MIT, and completed medical school at Harvard and residencies in surgery and plastic surgery at BWH. He joined the staff at BWH in 1992 and has since maintained an active tissue engineering and wound healing laboratory while participating in several clinical wound healing studies. He has established a number of collaborations with scientists from the region to develop better technologies to treat wounds including work with artificial skin, fat grafting, micromechanical forces, platelets, and stem cells.
