Description

Product cost is of key importance to many firms. Design for Manufacture is the process of designing products in such a way that they are more cost effective to produce. Design for Manufacture is one of several tools available in the producibility tool kit where the design objective is to deliver products that satisfy all performance objectives and may be safely produced in the shortest total time, at the lowest cost using the most advantageous processes. This presentation will address some of the fundamentals of design for manufacture and how that translates into effective production systems to reduce the total lifecycle cost of products. Speaker: Dr. Jeff Miller is a Principal Senior Technical Fellow in Production Engineering at The Boeing Company.
