ASME Oregon Section: The Road to Perseverance - a Special Presentation by Wil Allen, NASA JPL
Description
You are cordially invited to attend a special presentation by Wil Allen, Senior Engineer, Spacecraft Mechanical Engineering Section, NASA Jet Propulsion Lab. Mr. Allen will be discussing the design process that JPL uses on the Mars 2020 Perseverance mission and other rovers. Mr. Allen holds a degree in Engineering Physics from Oregon State University with over 35 years at JPL. The design and construction of Mars rovers at the Jet Propulsion Lab is an example of the constant cycle of mission description, test, build and documentation. Wil Allen has overseen 3 Mars missions and is the senior engineer in the Mechanical Engineering Section. He will discuss the process of design, adaptation, as-built and part reuse through the Mars 2020 Perseverance mission.
