Please join us for a Professional Development Course on Contract and Risk Management for Engineers. This will be our first in-person PD Course in over two years, so looking forward to seeing everyone. The venue is new this year and will allow for a larger meeting space and for a networking hour following the event. The course will cover the following topics: • Design Engineering – Thinking Outside the Box (Josh DeBoer) • Engineer’s Standard of Care based on Nebraska’s Code of practice, and an engineer’s common law duty (Woods & Aitken) • Scope Delineation, Insurance considerations and ethical considerations for “engineer-of-record” customarily associated with various project delivery methods (Woods & Aitken) • Development of Contract Provision with most litigated provisions for engineers in the construction (Woods & Aitken) • Contract Administration Best practices and activities (Woods & Aitken) • Risk Management Discussion with Loss Prevention in construction, Equipment Exposures, Fire Protection and Dust Hazards (FM Global) • General Lessons Learned and Open Forum (Open Discussion). Breakfast will be available starting at 7:30 a.m. and the course begins at 8:00 a.m. There will also be a Social Networking hour after the event. A virtual option is also available.
