Description

Come join us for our October program featuring speaker Joshua Riley, P.E. from Duke Energy. We will meet in the Community Room in the Student Success Center on the Greenville Technical College Barton Campus. Dress is business casual. The presentation portion of the program will also be streamed live using Zoom. In May of 2022, Josh Riley, P.E., was the Project Manager for the replacement of two high-pressure feedwater heaters in Unit 3 of Oconee Nuclear Station during a routine refueling outage. The timeline for the installation of the project was an industry-best for a dual feedwater heater replacement at a nuclear facility and is featured in the most recent issue of Power magazine and won an Energy/Industrial Award of Merit by ENR Southeast 2022 Best Projects Regional Awards Competition. During this presentation, Josh will discuss the role of feedwater heaters in nuclear power production, and the lifecycle of this project from manufacturing to installation and testing. He will also present a 3-D animation that illustrates the installation sequence and some of the innovative equipment that was used to perform the installation. Since becoming a Clemson University M.E. grad in 2014, Josh has worked for Duke Energy at the Oconee Nuclear Station, mostly as a mechanical design engineer and more recently as a project manager in their capital projects division. He has been involved with large mechanical equipment refurbishments and replacements including reactor coolant pumps, Keowee hydroelectric generators, and nuclear steam supply equipment. Prior to his career at Duke, he worked in various trades in commercial and residential construction. Josh is a current ASME member and maintains his SC Professional Engineering license.
