Mechanical engineering is normally associated with development of functional products and processes. Rarely do we think of it in the entertainment arena. One notable exception is when mechanical engineers get together and build combat robots whose only purpose is to wreak devastation on other machines in a controlled environment. Join the Eastern North Carolina Section as we host Craig Danby, creator of the Battlebot Slammo. Craig will introduce you to his team and share his excitement about creating these engineering marvels. Topics of discussion will include an overview of Battlebots, how a design is developed, the fabrication process, competing, and modifications. The talk will end talking about the future for our local team. Members from all professional and student sections are welcome to attend. It’s robot fighting time!
