ASME Standards & Certification Extends Relationship with China Special Equipment Inspection and Rese

Reflecting the sustained and far-reaching interest in its standards, ASME has revised and extended a license agreement with the China Special Equipment Inspection and Research Institute (CSEI). Signed on October 13, 2015 by ASME Executive Director Tom Loughlin and CSEI President Lin Shu Quin in a ceremony at ASME’s New York headquarters the license will allow CSEI to continue to translate and distribute the ASME A17 series of standards including QEI-1.

On October 12, 2015, ASME welcomed two associates from the China Special Equipment Inspection and Research Institute (CSEI). The individuals, Mr. Chen Zhiwei (Senior Engineer) and Mr. Wang Haoyang (Engineer), will be based out of ASME’s New York headquarters for a three month program to provide a comprehensive background in ASME’s Standards & Certification activities, including orientations on technical and programmatic areas of focus, participation at key events, and the opportunity to meet with representatives from other relevant stakeholder groups.

This reflects the latest in a series of collaborations between ASME and CSEI, which include;

  • Demonstrating the role of ASME Conformity Assessment and Standards play in promoting safety and standardization
  • Communicating the value of participating in ASME standards development
  • Making ASME standards related training more available and more relevant to local needs

The collaborations are undertaken in order to greater the understanding and acceptance of standards and certification and support ASME’s overall mission.
