John Celli of Space Systems/Loral Named to ASME Industry Advisory Board

NEW YORK, Aug. 9, 2012 – John Celli, president of Space Systems/Loral in Palo Alto, Calif., has been named to the ASME Industry Advisory Board.

Mr. Celli, whose background is in mechanical engineering, will join with other senior-level corporate executives to provide a valuable industry perspective on the programs and initiatives of the Society.  More than 80 percent of ASME members are employed in industry.

With more than 30 years of industry experience, Mr. Celli has served with Space Systems/Loral as chief operating officer; executive vice president, and senior vice president of engineering, manufacturing and test operations, before he became the company's president.  Between 1996 and 2001, he led the company's Intelsat IX program, including the development and delivery of seven advanced multi-frequency geostationary communications satellites.  Space Systems/Loral is the world's leading provider of commercial satellites.

John Celli holds a master's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Rome, Italy.  He worked at Alenia S.P.A., Rome, Italy, before joining Space Systems/Loral in 1981.
