ASME Renews Agreement with the Brazilian Society of Mechanical Sciences and Engineering

NEW YORK, Oct. 26, 2011 – ASME has renewed an agreement with the Brazilian Society of Mechanical Sciences and Engineering (Associacao Brasileira de Engenharia e Ciencias Mecanicas - ABCM) that aims to facilitate collaborations and information exchange between the organizations.

Officers of ASME and ABCM recently signed a formal agreement of cooperation, which calls for joint activities and cross-promotions in the areas of membership, conferences and publications, professional development, codes and standards, and student programs.  The signing during the Rio Pipeline Conference in Rio de Janeiro renews an agreement between the technical groups originally ratified in 1989.

Going forward, ASME and ABCM plan to explore opportunities by which each organization may leverage the expertise of the other to enhance the technical experience for engineers in their respective memberships.  Specific areas of joint interest between ASME and ABCM include pressure vessels and piping technology, student design competitions, and technology innovation.
