ASME India and TWI India Sign Strategic Agreement to Strengthen Engineering Workforce Development
CHENNAI, Tamil Nadu, India (April 13, 2025) — The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) India and TWI India will enter into a strategic agreement to collaborate on learning and development programming and personnel qualification of engineers in several industry sectors in India. The agreement will be signed in the presence of executive leadership from ASME (USA) and TWI (UK), including ASME Executive Director/CEO Tom Costabile and TWI Ltd. UK Associate Director Stephen Wisniewski, at 5 p.m. local time, Sunday, April 13, at ITC Grand Chola in Chennai.
This landmark collaboration combines ASME’s global leadership in mechanical engineering standards and professional learning with TWI India’s strengths in welding technology, painting, plant and NDT inspection, and industry-focused training. Together, the organizations aim to offer specialized programs that address critical skill gaps and support India’s growing demand for technically skilled professionals in energy and manufacturing sectors.
Under the agreement, ASME India and TWI India will deliver existing ASME programs and jointly develop and deliver new training programs, examinations, technical workshops, and conferences aligned with current industry requirements and emerging technologies. The collaboration will also explore opportunities to support skilling initiatives in areas including sustainability, automation, and advanced manufacturing.
In addition, the ASME Foundation India and TWI Foundation will sign a cooperation agreement to support initiatives that empower the next generation of engineers across the country.
