ASME Gas Turbine Institute To Offer Webinars On Renewable Energy And Engineering Ethics

NEW YORK, Sept. 12, 2011 – The ASME International Gas Turbine Institute (IGTI) will hold webinars on renewable energy and engineering ethics.
IGTI's Wind Turbine Tutorial will be held Sept. 28, 2011, 11:00-12:00 p.m. The tutorial will provide an overview of wind turbine technology. Starting from a historical perspective, the concept of wind power will be developed up through today's standards, with an explanation of current terms and design types. A discussion of technology development needs will provide insight into potential areas of research and development.
The webinar, Concentrating Solar Power, will be held Nov. 2, 2011, from 11:00-12:00 p.m. This tutorial will include an overview of current commercial Concentrating Solar Power (CSP) technology, the various thermodynamic cycles that are used at CSP facilities, and how thermal energy storage plays into the picture.
A third webinar, Engineering Ethics in Action will be held Nov. 3, 2011, 11:00-12:00 p.m. This course will feature interactive discussion and a focus on technical decisions that engineers must make in the workplace. During this webinar, participants will analyze situations which require ethical decision-making, including the application of an engineering code of ethics and the identification of resources for ethical decision-making.
