Achievement: The Women in Advanced Manufacturing (WIAM) Rising Star Award recognizes outstanding women graduate students and postdoctoral researchers who are shaping the future of advanced manufacturing through technical innovation, leadership, and advocacy. This annual award honors individuals who embody the WIAM mission: advancing knowledge and elevating women in the manufacturing ecosystem.
Criteria: Nominees must:
  • Be a graduate student (Master’s or PhD) or a postdoctoral researcher at the time of nomination.
  • Be an ASME member.
  • Attend the WIAM Forum in person, if selected, for a brief presentation.
  • Demonstrate a strong track record of technical/research excellence within the manufacturing community.
  • Demonstrate commitment to uplifting women in manufacturing through mentorship, outreach, leadership, and community building.
Nomination Deadline: March 15
Form of Award: Plaque, $300 honorarium.

  3. Two Recommendation Letters from individuals who can speak to the nominee’s technical excellence and leadership/outreach contributions within the manufacturing community. Letters must be from two different individuals (one of whom may be the nominator).
