ASME to Launch New AM Medical Industry Event in 2020

Additive manufacturing and 3D printing are transforming the manufacturing landscape. The unique advantages of the technology have made tremendous progress for medical and dental applications and more is possible. Bringing together diverse perspectives ― from engineers to clinicians to government agencies — has been key to support advancement. More work is needed, however, in order for more the benefits of 3D printing to impact more patients.

ASME is launching a new industry event spanning the Society’s strategic technology areas of advanced manufacturing and bioengineering – AM Medical: Additive Manufacturing & 3D Innovations – that is intended drive collaboration between manufacturing, medical and bio-engineering professionals to advance this vital technology and impact people’s lives.

AM Medical, which will be held May 27-28 in Minneapolis, Minn., will offer a dynamic, interactive environment complete with innovative technology exhibits and multiple learning and networking opportunities that address the unique needs of using additive manufacturing and 3D technologies for medical, dental and bioprinting applications. The event will provide a venue for attendees to learn about the latest solutions and applications in 3D printing, design for additive manufacturing, 3D scanning, post-processing, software, modeling and simulation, materials, mass customization, and other areas.

Many leading companies are active in the development of the event, including Medtronic, Stryker, Johnson & Johnson, The Mayo Clinic, and Walter Reed Medical Center, as well as such 3D printing leaders as 3D Systems, Stratasys, EnvisionTec and EOS.
