Franz Ziegler, Dipl.-Ing.(FH), an expert engineer at TÜV SÜD Industry Service GmbH, is an inspector for pressure vessels and steam boilers. He has more than 23 years of experience in design approval and analysis of technical installations and components (e.g. boilers, vessels, pipes, pumps and valves), specifically, in reference to materials, manufacturing process, quality assurance, and welding technologies. Mr. Ziegler is an ASME Authorized Inspector (AI), and consults for a number of German vessel and boiler manufacturers. Since 1988, he has been an active member of the German Association of Welding (DVS); for which he conducts up to 500 welding performance qualifications per year, in accordance with European regulations. Mr. Ziegler regularly provides welding-specific training and education courses. He has encouraged many engineers and experts to become qualified in all fields of welding technology. ***
Robert Kauer (Dipl. Ing., Dr. Ing.) has been working in the field of pressure vessel and piping technology since 1991, starting as an R&D engineer at the Institute of PVP Design, Experimental Stress Analysis and Plant Engineering in Munich. He has handled various national and international projects related to design, structural reliability, Fitness for Service, and inspection programme development for nuclear and non-nuclear applications in pressure vessel and piping technology. Dr. Kauer holds a US National Board Commission as an ASME Authorized Inspector and is member of various national and European committees. Currently he is head of the Plant Optimisation Department at TÜV SÜD Industry Service GmbH. He received his engineering degree from the Technical University of Munich.
