Are you tasked with the design or fabrication of pressure vessels, but are not sure where to begin with code requirements?  Are you or members of your team tasked with determining if pressure equipment is fit to continue operation for some desired future period?  This exclusive ASME learning path includes two of our most popular courses, combining to provide you with a comprehensive introduction to the requirements of the current edition of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC), Section VIII, Division 1, and helps course helps participants understand and apply the API/ASME fitness-for-service standard in their daily work.

Course 1: ASME BPV Code, Section VIII, Division 1: Design and Construction

This course is a comprehensive introduction to the requirements of the current edition of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC), Section VIII, Division 1.  Beginning with a unique insight into the background and organization of the Code, the course will then focus on the design and construction requirements of the Code. Participants will also explore requirements applicable to materials, fabrication, inspection, testing, and certification of pressure vessels.  Participants will perform relevant example calculations on Appendix 2 flanges, nozzle reinforcement, and much more! Real world case studies highlight areas such as Opening Reinforcements/ Nozzle Reinforcement and Appendix 2 Bolted Flange Calculation.

  • Schedule: This course is offered in five-day sessions, commencing at 10:30 AM and ends at 3:30 PM Eastern each day, with breaks scheduled throughout.

Course 2: API 579-1/ASME FFS-1 Fitness-For-Service Evaluation

This course helps participants understand and apply the API/ASME fitness-for-service standard in their daily work. The material presented in the course shows how the disciplines of stress analysis, materials engineering, and nondestructive inspection interact and apply to fitness-for-service assessment.

  • Schedule: This course runs from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM and 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM Eastern each day, with breaks throughout

Who Should Attend?
This exclusive learning path is intended for those involved with the purchase, design, fabrication, or inspection of pressure vessels as well as the evaluation and maintenance of facilities.  This includes engineers, contractors, inspectors, and engineering management who wish to have a more comprehensive understanding of pressure vessels and their relationship to the API/ASME fitness-for-service standard.  Some technical background will be helpful, but attendees are not required to have an Engineering degree or previous work experience in the subject matter.

This ASME Virtual Classroom course is held live with an instructor on our online learning platform.  Certificate of completion will be issued to registrants who successfully attend and complete the course.
