This course provides an introduction to the ASME/ANS PRA Standard for Level 1/Large Early Release Frequency Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) for Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) Applications.
This Standard sets forth requirements for probabilistic risk assessments (PRAs) used to support risk-informed decisions for commercial nuclear power plants, and prescribes a method for applying these requirements for specific applications.
The course looks at the basis and background of its development. It explains the role of the Joint Committee on Nuclear Risk Management (JCNRM) in the development and provides a summary of what the Standard covers.
It continues with a description of how to assess technical capability of the PRA, a look at the organization of the Standard, and a discussion of the differences from other ASME Standards. The course ends with a discussion of the use and application of the Standard. It will help you understand how to comply with the Standard and “meet” its requirements
The ASME/ANS (American Nuclear Society) RA-S is a national consensus standard, approved through ANSI and written in a format that can be adopted by law in accordance with the conditions for its use in the Country, Province, State, or Municipality having Regulatory and Enforcement authority.
