ASME and Discovery Education Launch "Engineering Dreams" Initiative

ASME and Discovery Education have launched a new “Engineering Dreams” initiative aimed at engaging K-12 students in engineering to equip them with the tools that they need to solve the world’s biggest challenges. The new program provides educators with free, standards-aligned learning resources such as innovator spotlights and interactive classroom activities.

Regarding the collaboration, ASME Executive Director/CEO Tom Costabile, P.E. says, “ASME champions equitable access to unique and impactful K-12 STEM education content and experiences that are intentionally designed to reach students chronically underrepresented in STEM. This collaboration with Discovery Education is a critical lynchpin in ASME’s overall DEI strategy to foster a more diverse and inclusive pipeline of students eager to pursue engineering. Many of our diverse talented members are storytellers who can fill a critical gap in representation by sharing real-world examples of engineers and engineering that resonate with students.”

ASME is also a signature partner of the STEM Careers Coalition powered by Discovery Education. The Coalition is made up of leaders from different industries that are looking to further enhance STEM education in K-12 classrooms. The Coalition is specifically looking to inspire the next generation of STEM workers by bringing real-world problems and expertise into the classroom. The Coalition has a vision to reach 10 million students at 5,000+ schools and focus on engaging diverse populations through creating equal access opportunities.
