October 11-13, 2017
The 2017 DSCC will continue the tradition of earlier ASME Dynamic Systems and Control Conferences in providing students and young professionals with activities and events tailored to their careers and needs. We are pleased to announce the following activities and events (please check this website periodically for new announcements of activities/events):
Small grants will be available to help defray the cost of conference-related registration, travel, hotel, and meal expenses by student attendees. The intent of these grants is not to cover all conference-related student expenses, but rather to partially assist students with these costs.
Eligibility: Travel grants will be available for conference attendees who (i) serve as first authors on DSCC papers; (ii) present these papers at DSCC themselves; (iii) were students at the time they submitted these papers at DSCC; (iv) do not receive reimbursement for the requested travel expenses from other sources; and (iv) who provide letters from their advisors certifying the above.
The precise application process/deadlines will be announced in April 2017. Recipients of travel grants will be required to attend a student and young members event at DSCC; the list of eligible events will be announced in April 2017.
Papers written by students will be eligible for participating in a best student paper competition. Finalists will present their papers at a dedicated best student paper competition session at DSCC 2017. The finalists and winner will receive special recognition at the DSCC 2017 awards banquet. Moreover, funds will be made available to defray a larger portion of these students' conference-related registration, travel, hotel, and meal expenses than possible through the regular travel grants.
Eligibility: Participants in the competition must (i) serve as first authors on DSCC papers; (ii) present these papers at DSCC themselves; (iii) be available to present these papers at both their regular session times and the best student paper competition session; (iv) attend the DSCC 2017 banquet; (v) be students the time they submit their competition entries to DSCC; (vi) not receive reimbursement for their requested travel expenses from other sources; and (vii) provide nomination letters from their advisors certifying the above.
The precise application process/deadlines will be announced in April 2017.
A special event will be organized at DSCC 2017 to enable students and young professionals, especially those on the job market, to network with industry. Details will be announced here in April 2017.
Students and young professionals interested in finding hotel roommates at DSCC 2017 will have the opportunity to find roommates by contacting the DSCC 2017 Students and Young Members Chair, being included in the roommate search database, and then receiving a copy of this database. It will be the responsibility of these students and young members to use the database to find potential hotel roommates. It will also be understood that this database is being provided solely as a service to the community, and that DSCC 2017 takes no responsibility for its misuse.
Details on joining the student/young member roommate database will be posted on this website in April 2017.
