“This standard is no longer an American National Standard or an ASME-approved standard. It is available for historical reference only.”
This Code provides procedures for determining various physical and chemical properties of fine particulate matter (dust) and defines the terminology to be used in stating these properties. This Code excludes the methods to be employed in obtaining the samples of dust to be tested. It is assumed that the samples of gas borne from a duct shall be taken in accordance with the Test Code for Determining Dust Concentration in a Gas Stream (PTC 27-1957). It is recommended that samples should not be obtained from a large bulk of material in a hopper, silo, or from a similar location.
