NEW YORK, July 9, 2012 – The Telly Awards has named ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) as a Bronze winner in the 33rd Annual Telly Awards. Two Online Video Bronze Awards, submitted by New Vision Communications, New York, were selected among the nearly 11,000 entries from all 50 states and numerous countries.
The first video titled “Human Powered Vehicle Challenge,” served as an online promotional feature to raise awareness of ASME’s annual collegiate competition for engineering students. The HPVC is an event where students can demonstrate their creativity and technical innovation by designing and operating new concepts in human powered transportation. The video blended scenes from the competition with interviews from participants in a creative, fast-paced format, which captured the purpose and excitement of this annual engineering event.
The second video, ASME’s “State of the Society 2011” summarized ASME’s successful year of growth and achievement in areas of membership, financial performance, standards and certification, as well as the organization’s significant milestones and accomplishments. The video served to communicate ASME’s strategic focus on energy, workforce development and global impact, its mission and vision, and the organization’s goal to improve quality of life for humankind.

The Telly Awards was founded in 1979 and is the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs, the finest video and film productions, and online commercials, video and films. Winners represent the best work of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable operators, and corporate video departments in the world.
For its 33rd season, The Telly Awards once again joined forces with YouTube to give the public the power to view and rate videos submitted as part of the People’s Telly Awards. In addition to recognition from the Silver Telly Council, the judging panel that selects the Telly Awards winners, the Internet community helps to decide the People’s Telly Awards winners.
A prestigious judging panel of over 500 accomplished industry professionals, each a past winner of a Silver Telly and a member of The Silver Telly Council, judged the competition, upholding the historical standard of excellence that Telly represents. The Silver Council evaluated entries to recognize distinction in creative work – entries do not compete against each other – rather entries are judged against a high standard of merit. Less than 10% of entries are chosen as Winners of the Silver Telly, our highest honor. Approximately 25% of entries are chosen as Winners of the Bronze Telly.
