IMECE 2016 to Host a Variety of Special Events
The ASME 2016 International Mechanical Engineering Congress and Exposition (IMECE 2016) in Phoenix, Ariz., the world’s largest interdisciplinary mechanical engineering conference, begins in just one week. The conference, which will be held from Nov. 11 to 17 at the Phoenix Convention Center, will feature more than 450 technical sessions, more than 20 technical tracks, and a number of prominent speakers representing the full scope of the engineering profession.

The wind-powered Archimedes Screw Pump of the San Francisco Bay, a nearly 200-year old invention that enabled the local production of salt in the San Francisco area, was recently redesignated as an ASME landmark at a ceremony in Hayward, Calif.
ASME-Led Coalition Opposes Proposals Requiring a Master’s Degree for Licensure
The Licensing That Works Coalition, an ASME-led coalition of engineering societies representing thousands of engineers in New Jersey and more than 300,000 engineers across the United States, recently urged the New Jersey State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors to oppose any legislative or regulatory proposals requiring anyone seeking licensure as a professional engineer (PE) to obtain a master’s degree in engineering or its equivalent first.
