Submission Deadlines Approaching for Two ASME Summer Conferences

Nov. 18, 2016

Abstracts are now being accepted for two ASME conferences that are scheduled for next summer: the ASME Fluids Engineering Division Summer Meeting (FEDSM 2017) and the ASME Summer Heat Transfer Conference (SHTC 2017). If you’re interested in submitting an abstract for either of the conferences, however, you should do so soon. The deadline for submitting an abstract for FEDSM 2017 is Nov. 29, while the deadline for SHTC 2017 is Dec. 15.

FEDSM 2017 will be held July 30 to Aug. 3, 2017, at the Hilton Waikoloa Village in Waikoloa, Hawaii. The conference’s program will feature technical paper sessions, workshops, plenary lectures, student scholarship competitions, committee meetings, and social networking events. FEDSM organizers are currently seeking paper contributions from all areas of fluids mechanics, encompassing both fundamental and application.

The event will cover a wide range of topics, including acoustics; aeroelasticity; applied computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and fluid mechanics; bioinspired fluid mechanics; BioMEMS, MEMS and NEMS; cavitation; CFD development; flow characterization, control and optimization; fluid fundamentals and perspectives; fluid measurement and instrumentation; fluid power systems; gas and shock dynamics; high-performance computing; industrial fluid mechanics; manufacturing processes; microfluidics and nanofluidics; multiphase flows; propulsion; renewable energy; surface tension and capillarity; sustainability; thermodynamics and heat transfer; and verification and validation, to name just a few.

To submit an abstract for FEDSM 2017, which should be between 500 and 600 words, visit the conference website at www.asme.org/events/fedsm, and click on “Present/Publish.” If you have submitted to ASME conferences in the past, simply login with your credentials. If you are new, you will have to create a user account. Once you have logged in, simply follow the instructions.

SHTC 2017 will be held July 9 to 14 at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue in Bellevue, Wash. In addition to technical sessions, workshops, plenary and panel sessions, networking events and committee meetings, the SHTC program will also feature cross-society collaborations, such as a special symposium organized by the American Society of Chemical Engineers in memory of the late Prof. Stuart W. Churchill. SHTC organizers are now accepting paper contributions from all areas of heat and mass transfer in a variety of applications.

The conference’s technical tracks will address a number of areas related to heat transfer, including heat transfer in energy systems; thermophysical properties; theory and fundamental research in heat transfer; heat transfer enhancement for practical applications; heat and mass transfer in fire and combustion; aerospace heat transfer; heat transfer in multiphase systems; gas turbine heat transfer; transport phenomena in materials processing and manufacturing; heat transfer in electronic equipment; heat and mass transfer in biotechnology; heat and mass transfer under extreme conditions; environmental heat transfer; computational heat transfer; visualization of heat transfer; heat transfer education and future directions in heat transfer; heat and mass transfer in the micro- and nanoscales; and nuclear energy.

To submit an abstract of 500 to 600 words to the organizers of SHTC 2017, www.asme.org/events/shtc, click on “Present/Publish,” sign in and just follow the instructions submitting an abstract.
