Nominations Now Being Accepted for New ASME Award

The ASME Committee on Honors is currently accepting applications for a new ASME Award, the Adaptive Structures and Material Systems Award, which recognizes a senior researcher who has made a significant contribution to the sciences and technologies associated with adaptive structures or materials systems. The nomination deadline for the inaugural award, which will be presented next year, is Oct. 1.

The Adaptive Structures and Material Systems Award is intended to honor a lifetime of achievement and sustained impact in the field. The award consists of a $2,000 honorarium, a vermeil medal, and a certificate. The award recipient will also be asked to give a plenary lecture at the annual Conference on Smart Materials, Adaptive Structures and Intelligent Systems.

To download a nomination form, or for instructions on how to complete the form, visit www.asme.org/about-asme/honors-awards/achievement-awards/adaptive-structures-material-systems-award. Completed nomination forms and reference letters should be e-mailed in a single PDF file to Norman M. Wereley, the Adaptive Structures and Material Systems Award Committee chair, at wereley@umd.edu.
